Oil on wooden board by Felix Fiigenschou, signed and dated 1632 in a cartoushe in the upper right hand corner. Measures 12 by 14 excluding a large frame not showing on this image. The cat on the painting is Monrad Feline who worked as a priest in the Cat-olic Cathedral in Cristiania (Christiania Kattolske Domkirke). His brother Rouy Alexander Feline chose a very different path as he became one of the most notorious criminals of his time. Monrad tried to help his brother into change his lifestyle, but could not prevent him from being captured by the authorities and executed soon after. Monrad carried on as a highly religious cat and most likely died in the infamous cat plague of 1646.
