Don't let something like this get you down. I've spent years being rejected, I've watched people laugh at my work and believe me, where I come from saying I wanted to be an artist was like being a black jewish homosexual at a KKK meeting.
If people didn't turn up have you asked yourself why?
was it promoted well?
was the location any good?
Did you send out invites?
Did you cater? wine and nibbles, beer and chips?
Did it have a theme or was it a group show?
If it was a group show then there should have been friends and family of the artists.
Remember an exhibition is like any other marketing it doesn't matter if you are selling a work or an idea.
It's a Gallery that I have been associated with for many years. Yes, they do a mail out, but I think times are tough. You'd think with 7 Artists in the Show they would have had a better turnout. I am only letting this get me down because it's a snow ball effect of a long year of mis-haps. I am now hoping that 2009 will be a better year for everyone! Thanks so much for your kind encouragement and thoughts!
ahh... the bittersweet taste of disappointment, goes away and turns into memories you're gonna laugh at. When I was twenty, I was thrown out of an exhibit (or should I say the gallery decided against my works after all), because my style was too hardcore, and wasn't very traditional (and it was not sexual or anything like that at all...just the way I depict my subjects...a little more on the darker side of life than the average but that's it.)
And let me tell you, was I pissed, a little bit of disappointed, but PISSED, that was one day before the actual opening, and now, I take it as the greatest compliment of my (still very short) career in the art field, and a bit of a highlight too, as vain as I might sound.
in a nutshell, you're gonna be fine. and i know you know it as well as i do. Just keep on going, what else is there to do in life?

I admire your style and yes, you should keep trying of course! Like they say, The most successful people are the ones who have failed the most first! Looks like you have a lot of support here!
