Eric,
Hey, I didn't think you'd really come check out my work. I figured I'd write you real quick so you didn't take more than a minute and click away.
On the right hand side there is a list of links. --------------------->
Click the one that says "paintings" and this will bring you to my paintings. You are a smart guy, so I won't insult you with a step by step.
The style I work in and the colors are just personal preference. I take direction well and can do any style or subject easily.
Thanks for the consideration. Shoot me an email and tell me what you think. Good, bad, indifferent, etc. I wanted to write because I thought it might be an awkward conversation.

Hello! I am going to have a few pieces in an art show in Roosevelt, NJ pretty soon!
This year, the 20th Anniversary of RAP (Roosevelt Arts Project) arts
festival is planned to include art, music, and historic
tours.Roosevelt, NJ just shy of two square miles and home to fewer than
1000 people, has perhaps a higher percentage of professional artists,
from potters to painters and poets, than any other town in America.
The Roosevelt Arts Project was formed, in part, to celebrate the town's
Artistic Heritage. Since 1987, its mission has been to foster and
encourage collaboration among local artists in a variety of media and
also to present these often experimental works to the public throughout
its arts season.
Please take this as both invitation to write about the exhibits,
history, and celebration of this unique town, as well as an invitation
for the press to cover an interesting story on the Arts, local
festivals, or community story, and a bit of history thrown in for good
measure.
The show runs from Friday, May 4th (5p-7:30p)
Saturday, May 5th and Sunday, May 6th (12n-5p)
At the Historic Factory, APAI (Oscar Drive and N. Valley Rd.)

This weekend was humiliating and horrible. I wasn't in any art show. By the time I got there, no spots were left open. I had to carry all my stuff back out to the car. Then I had to call everyone I invited to tell them if they hadn't left yet, not to bother. It was awful. I heard all these dumb-ass comments from people as I carried my work back outside.
Luckily, I have friends in the city. At least I did have somewhere else to go. It was horrible. Isn't that why I registered? So, there'd be a place for my work to go?!? Oh well. There will be other art shows.
I am grateful for my friends and boyfriend who were extremely supportive. We all need people like that, people who care enough about you to share your pain and anguish.
I spent the weekend licking my wounds, and might even do some painting tonight. Thank goodness for friends.

This is it. The art show is on Friday, March 2nd, and I have only a few days left to get it all together. I was worried I might not have enough stuff, but undoubtedly more and more older pieces are coming out of my closet, from under the bed, at my office, etc. It looks as though I will have plenty of stuff to fill up my 5 feet of horizontal space. It will all work out. I'll post photos and write more after it happens. Wish me luck!

In reference to the photos of the Kuser Mansion, "Just to give an idea of how influential the Kusers were, Anthony R. Kuser consolidated all the gas and electric companies in Trenton... served on the staffs of three governors... The Fox Film Company, later to merge with 20th Century, was started with a $200,000 loan from Kuser, and family members went on to become major stock holders. The Kuser legacy includes High Point State Park and the New Jersey Audubon Society."

The other night I was working on two paintings at once. I had both easels of mine set up and went back and forth when one was too wet to work with - I'd switch! I almost felt like Monet. But he swiched because of the light changing when time did.

Ok, in case anyone cares to read this story...here goes.
I signed up for an art show last year. I never heard back from them or got anymore information about it. Then I went anyway with some friends and I knew for whatever reason I was not in the show. My boyfriend and his lovely sister asked around to see who was in charge of joining the show. We looked for a "guy in a red shirt" and found a former classmate of mine. We had an art class together and sat next to each other.
I tried to befriend him one day (or several) and was told, "I just don't like you. You are too much. Too talkative, too animated, too...just too much!" I was really taken aback, assuming because we were both artists that we would hit it off.
That was why I didn't make it in the show. So, this year I have a plan. I used the name acrylicrocks instead of Nicole Scott and needless to say I got a detailed email in response. I intend to make full use of my 5 feet of horizontal space. As well as numerous promotional items to distribute. Stickers, business cards, keychains, buttons, sketch books and more. Everyone there is going to have something with my name, logo, or artwork on it. There's nothing like shameless self-promotion to mak a point.
No cranky, unfriendly art brat is going to keep me from being in this show. Afterwards I will be posting lots of stuff from the event. Perhaps my persistence will pay off and get some respect out of it. Chances are I won't be asked to return. But then - who cares.

Lets all work together to spread the word...the word of shameless self promotion. I live in a prime spot inbetween two of the major meccas of artistic culture in America; New York City and Philadelphia. I am contacting the art departments of local universities and art groups to let others know about this wonderful site. It would be great to get others involved to grow this community. Lets do what we can, you guys!
This is my little friend, Sarah - artist in training. We were doing some penguin project!

I figured it out! The best way to overcome the dreaded art block is to look at other peoples work and post more of you own. The only problem then is that so much time is spent getting into the mood that there tends not to be enough time to actually work. Either way, that is the answer.

What do you call it if an artist has the equivilent of writers block? How can this be overcome. I can guess the answer to that...work on something. Aww, man.

Hello to whoever might read this. I am a 26 year old New Jersey college student. I would love to meet other artists to exchange ideas, inspire one another, possibly collaborate (eventually), or to just talk. I know very few artists, unfortunately. I love my friends and all, but it is hard to get an honest opinion out of people who love you.
