About Me
I'm in the Army now. I'm a medic. I don't paint as much as I would like but I make it work.

Statement
I make oil paintings on translucent surfaces which allows the option of incorporating lighting solutions. By combining lighting with paintings, my work can be considered functional as well as aesthetic. I also still do regular oil paintings just because sometimes I miss using opaque colors, but I stretch satin instead of canvas because it's a much finer surface and it's actually less expensive. I also like drawing with graphite and ink.

Biography
I started painting and drawing consistently when I was 14, primarily as a result of boredom and curiosity. I discovered a box full of my dad's old oil paints from the 70's stashed away in the basement one day and ever since then I've been painting with oils. I've come a long way since then mostly by being very experimental. I made my biggest developments in my senior year at the U of M 2007-08 and I feel like I've refined my techniques most significantly throughout the time that I had an uptown studio all to myself to work and live in, which was between August 2009 and May 2011. Someday I will finally have the space and materials I need to work to my full potential, I just have to do some stuff for the army first.
