About Me
I studied painting and drawing at the University of Utah and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in 2005. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah with my husband and three children. I exhibit my work in galleries across the U.S. My paintings are currently being published by Poem’s Publishing and are sold internationally.
Statement
The pattern and texture in my mixed-media floral paintings are inspired by my love for textile design. These paintings focus on the decorative influence of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement, as well as patterns from the Orient, Morocco and Mexico. Kate is constantly studying pattern and design found in fabric, rugs, tiles and papers. The creation of these paintings focuses primarily on process, using stencil and charcoal drawings layered throughout each piece.
