This painting, which took part to a painting contest this month , was inspired by a visit to the Vela Museum in Ligornetto , where there was a very big cat dozing away ... it's a 50x50cms canvas (oil painting). I am rather satisfied with the chair , which velvety suface was rather difficult to pull out in oil painting ...and the statue in the background was rather difficult too!

this is my latest oil painting ! It took part to my art group exibition which was held last weekend ... I'll put in some photos as soon as I can !
The idea came from a walk to San Fruttuoso di Camogli a famous site on the Riviera near Portofino which can be reached only by boat or on foot along a path ... and from a photo taken coming down the path ! the idea is to give a sort of "visionary" effect to it , removing all the crowding of boats and people always going to and fro from there ... I only left a sort of ghostly shadow of the boats parked under the arches ... in this way it looks more unreal!
The colours are put in so cool on purpose , to emphasize the visionary effect .

This is the finished printed version of "the Little Owl" ...the etched copper plate was brushed with ink and then put into a press to print the drawing on the paper ( I used white Fabriano "rosaspina " paper )

a "pictorial" interpretation of a photograph of some gourds on a terrace by the lake ... I don't really feel it completely mine as the original subject isn't ... but it was a great exercise anyhow..

I am preparing an aquatint version of my "Little Owl" as I like to bring my experiences in drawing and painting to other media . This is the final (at least for now ) etching work on a copper prepared plate: now a preliminary print is needed to see if it needs other changes!

With this still life I took part to the "Wetcanvas!" February Still life Project : I enjoy these as you can get a lot of feedback ... the subject was one of the chosen ones for the project ... so I have no credit for it .

Yoda is "wetcanvas" member Tyree's cat ! Once , during an art journey we entered our cats' pictures into the "Classical Art " forum ... I asked her permission to make a pastel version of hers .. a lovely photograph of a lovely cat !...with very warm colours ...she liked this pet portrait very much!

This painting was made after a morning I spent last autumn at Sighignola (about 1300 metres above sea level) a mountain which overlooks Lake Lugano where you can also have a dazzling view of Lake Como and Lake Maggiore ... it is therefore called "Italy's Balcony"!
